Position Overview:
IMP is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Engineer to support the P-3 aircraft operations within the Air and Marine Operations (AMO) division. The P-3 aircraft are essential in disrupting transnational criminal organizations by providing persistent aerial surveillance over vast maritime smuggling routes. The Structural Engineer will ensure the structural integrity and safety of these aircraft, contributing to the success of CBP's mission.
What You Will Do:
- Perform detailed structural analysis and design for aircraft components, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials for aircraft structures to ensure durability and performance.
- Optimize structural designs to enhance aircraft performance and reduce weight without compromising safety.
- Conduct inspections and testing of aircraft structures to identify and address potential issues.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, and maintenance manuals.
- Work closely with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of structural components.
- Address and resolve structural engineering challenges that arise during aircraft operations and maintenance.
- Ensure all structural designs, modifications and repairs comply with industry standards, regulations, and CBP policies.
- Stay updated with advancements in structural engineering and apply innovative solutions to improve aircraft performance.
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
- 7 to 10 years of aerospace experience
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
- Working level knowledge of the MS Office and MS Windows environments
- Knowledge of the following will be considered an asset:
- Aircraft structures
- Engineering drawing systems specifically those from an aircraft manufacturer
- Static analysis, fatigue analysis
- Classical stress analysis and finite element modelling and analysis
- Experience or exposure to NASTRAN, and PATRAN
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment as required by the individual task; Willingness and enthusiasm to learn;
- Actively seek to remedy any deficiencies in performance;
