Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated individual to work in our purchasing department. This supply chain role requires excellent analytical, communication and coordination skills with both the suppliers and the internal customer. A buyer's primary role is to purchase goods and services for the company. This involves researching products, negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory, and ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
What You Will Do:
- Review material demand from the MRP system
- Source the material from qualified suppliers through the RFQ process.
- Generate Purchase Orders based on the Most Economically Advantageous Tender (MEAT) and send it out to the supplier upon internal management approval and follow up on order confirmations.
- Work closely with Production to fulfill the shortages and address line stop situation arising due to material shortage.
- Follow up on deliveries to make sure an OTD from supplier.
- Provide monthly Open Order Reports (OOR’s) to suppliers to follow up, re-align deliveries, and expedite, as necessary.
- Maintain Approved Vendor database as per work instructions.
- Coordinate with Quality on defective goods and provide NCR to the supplier for defect resolution
- Maintain Supplier approval list and update documents in a timely manner.
- Share results with top 20 Supplier performance on their reliability and OTD.
- Obtain prices for customer quotes and work closely with Methods Planning and Pricing Analyst to finalize customer quotes.
- Attend internal and external meetings.
- Escalate issues to the supervisor when needed

What You Will Bring:
- A university degree (preferred in Business, Science, Commerce)
- Prior experience as a buyer within a manufacturing or engineering environment preferred
- Knowledge of ERP system
- Well versed with MS office tools, including Outlook, Excel and Word
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to organize and manage multiple competing priorities
- Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
- Must meet physical requirements of the position including but not limited to: walking, static standing and leg/foot movement for extended periods, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting/trunk rotation, weight bearing / lifting, carrying, pushing & pulling heavy objects; hand/wrist gripping, grasping, pinching, vibration depend on tasks/tools, neck & back flexion.
