Position Overview:

Responsible to assemble, fit and install prefabricated detail parts and components to produce, manufacture and/or repair aircraft and aerospace components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies in accordance with customer or engineering specifications, Company procedures, SWIMS, etc.  

What You Will Do:

  1. Interact with Supervisor and/or Charge Hand by communicating and receiving instruction in the transition of the workflow and production work scheduling; to assess current material needs and/or to address any problems accordingly.
  2. Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and the use safety equipment will be the highest priority for you and your co-workers;
  3. Ensure the efficient movement of production parts identified as priority (AOG or Critical).
  4. Set-up and efficiently operate the tools and equipment as dictated by the task at hand and the training, knowledge and ability to do so.
  5. Adhere to, read and interpret drawings, blueprints, mylars and follow procedures (work orders, customers’ specifications, engineers’ drawings/prints, work instructions, SWIMs, company specifications)
  6. Locate and mark reference points/holes, etc. for installation of parts and components using jigs, templates and measuring instruments.
  7. Assemble and fit pre-fabricated parts to form sub-assemblies according to blueprints, specifications, Company workplace instructions, SWIMS, manuals, etc. using hand and/or power tools working at benches or directly on aircraft structures.
  8. Disassemble or assemble aircraft and/or aerospace components for overhaul or repair.
  9. Position and align sub-assemblies in jigs or fixtures using measuring instruments, following blueprint, customer specifications, engineering drawings, SWIMS, shop drawings, etc.
  10. Drill, scribe/trim and fit parts, components and sub-assemblies, bolt, screw or rivet accessories to fasten, support or hang components and sub-assemblies prior to fastening with adhesives or bonding.
  11. Mix and apply sealant and/or adhesives to parts, components and/or assemblies as required.
  12. Perform routine maintenance on work equipment; keep tools, equipment and immediate work area(s) in a clean, orderly and safe condition.

What You Will Bring:

  • Completion of High School (Grade 12), equivalent experience and/or training. 
  • Demonstrated experience operating machines and measuring components;
  • Completion of an aircraft blueprint course or have demonstrated ‘tested’ ability to read aircraft blueprints; 
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude, high attention to detail, a high level of manual dexterity and a strong interest in aircraft assembly and/or repair.
  • Completion of Global Harmonized System (WHMIS) course.
  • Must be able to work with others co-operatively and follow directives precisely.
  • Knowledge of processes, products and equipment and ability to read blueprints and engineering documentation will be considered an asset.
  • Must meet physical requirements of the position including but not limited to: walking, static standing and leg/foot movement for extended periods, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting/trunk rotation, weight bearing / lifting, carrying, pushing & pulling heavy objects; hand/wrist gripping, grasping, pinching, vibration depend on tasks/tools, neck & back flexion.

  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and the Canadian Security Clearances – Secret Level II
