Position Overview:

The Crew Chief is responsible to supervise and assign personnel to meet maintenance requirements to provide mission ready search and rescue helicopters. In addition, the Crew Chief performs elementary servicing and maintenance duties in support of the aircraft maintenance program.
 

What You Will Do:

  • Provide supervision to other employees, including task assignment.
  • Provide input to crew shift assignment, aircraft maintenance schedule and selection of aircraft for flight.
  •  Perform First, Second and Third Level maintenance on aircraft mechanical, structural and electrical systems and components. This will include, but not be limited to, the servicing, inspection, removal, cleaning, repair, installation, adjustment, testing and certification (release) of aircraft mechanical, structural, avionics and electrical systems and components, and ground support equipment.
  • Ramp duties will include, but not be limited to, pre/post flight inspection and support, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling/defueling and installation/removal of required mission equipment and crash and emergency technical response.
  • Perform ground runs of engines and auxiliary power units, where qualified.
  • Fly as necessary in support of maintenance, ferry and deployment operations.
  • Travel and work at other main operating bases, deployments in support of operations at remote sites, mobile repair parties and ferry flights.
  • Provide on-job-training to other employees.
  • Attend training for trade and personnel development and for qualification/certification purposes.
  • Remove all debris accumulated by tasks performed and maintain a clean, safe work area.
  • Ensure hangar, shop, stores and office areas are clean and swept.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures and directives established by the Company. 
  • Perform other tasks as may be required from time to time.

What You Will Bring:

  • Graduate of a CH149 type maintenance course.
  • Graduate of a recognized aircraft maintenance course or apprenticeship program and hold a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license or be qualified as an aircraft aviation technician within the Canadian Armed Forces or equivalent commercial experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in helicopter maintenance is required, of which 2 has been in a supervisory position.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, including, but not limited to, power plant, flight controls, dynamic systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, environmental, basic structures, avionic and power generation and distribution systems. 
  • Knowledge of corrosion control techniques. 
  • Capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation such as maintenance manuals, work packages, drawings, blueprints and Standard Plant Procedures. 
  • Ability to use standard computer programs and such specialized ones as may be necessary in the performance of duties.
  • Able to drive vehicles and tow tractors. 
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities in your area. 
  • Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Transport Canada security clearances, up to Level ll (Secret). 
  • The successful applicants will be eligible to meet requirements for the U.S International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
