Position Overview:
The Apprentice Technician (AVN or AVS) performs first and second line aircraft maintenance on the Cormorant Helicopter under guidance and supervision of journeyperson technicians, in support of our Canadian Search and Rescue operations.
As part of their development to journeyperson, apprentices will be enrolled through the Canadian Council for Aerospace and Aviation (CCAA) or a similar institute and utilize a log book supplied by CCAA or similar institute for development tracking/certification purposes. Apprentice technicians shall graduate to journeyperson status IAW the timelines established through enrollment with CCAA or a similar institute. Duties for the apprentice include conducting On Job Experience (OJE) and On Job Training (OJT) for Servicing Tasks, Elementary Tasks and Work, including aircraft documentation, inspection, removal, cleaning, repair, installation, adjustment, testing and certification (release) of aircraft mechanical, structural and electrical systems and components and ground support equipment.
What You Will Do:
- Ramp duties will include, but not be limited to pre/post flight inspection and support, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling/defueling and installation/removal of required mission equipment and crash and salvage response.
- Fly as necessary in support of maintenance, ferry and deployment operations
- Travel and work at other main operating bases, deployments in support of operations at remote sites, mobile repair parties and ferry flights.
- Receive on-job-training from other employees to progress through apprenticeship to journeyperson.
- Attend training at various locations for apprentice development, trade, airworthiness and personnel development and for qualification/certification and recurrent training purposes.
- Sweep and clean hangar, shop, stores and office areas, remove all debris accumulated by tasks performed and maintain a clean, safe work area.
- Adhere to policies, procedures and directives established by the Company.
- Perform other tasks as may be required from time to time.
What You Will Bring:
- Graduate of a recognized college basic aircraft maintenance program or equivalent Canadian Armed Forces basic aircraft maintenance program. or other recognized basic aircraft maintenance program.
- Capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation such as maintenance manuals, work packages, drawings, blueprints and Standard Plant Procedures.
- Ability to use standard computer programs and such specialized ones as may be necessary in the performances of the duties.
- Able to drive vehicles and tow tractors. Operate motorized aircraft maintenance support equipment.
- Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program.
