Position Overview:

The Aviation Technician performs first and second line aircraft maintenance on the Cormorant Helicopter in support of our Canadian Search and Rescue operations.

This position is located at our Main Operating Base in Greenwood, NS. 

What You Will Do:

  • Perform First and Second Level maintenance on aircraft mechanical, structural and electrical systems and components, and ground support equipment.  This will include, but not limited to, the servicing, inspection, removal, cleaning, repair, installation, adjustment, testing and certification (release) of aircraft mechanical, structural and electrical systems and components and ground support equipment.  
  • Ramp duties will include, but not limited to, pre/post flight inspection and support, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling/defueling, installation of required mission equipment, aircraft crash and technical response and aircraft salvage response.
  • Perform ground runs of engines and auxiliary power units, where qualified and authorized.
  • Fly as necessary in support of maintenance, ferry and deployment operations.
  • Travel and work at other main operating bases, deployments in support of operations at remote sites, mobile repair parties and ferry flights.
  • Provide on-jog-training to other employees.
  • Attend training for trade and professional development and for qualification, recertification, authorization purposes.
  • Sweep and clean hangar, shop, stores and office areas, remove all debris accumulated by tasks performed and maintain a clean, safe work area.
  • Adhere to polices, procedures and directives established by the Company.
  • Provide supervision to other employees.
  • Perform other duties as may be required in support of the CH 149 ISSC.

What You Will Bring:

  • Graduate of a recognized aircraft maintenance course or apprenticeship program and hold a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license or be qualified as an aircraft aviation technician within the Canadian Forces or equivalent commercial experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, including, but not limited to, power plants, flight controls, dynamic systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, environmental, basic structures and power generation and distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of use of special tools and equipment. Knowledge of corrosion and corrosion control techniques.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation such as maintenance manuals, work packages, drawings, blueprints and Standard Plant Procedures.
  • Ability to use standard computer programs and such specialized ones as may be necessary in the performance of the duties.
  • Valid NS Class 5 Driver License, Able to drive vehicles, tow tractors and support vehicles.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies.  
  • Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Learn & 8S activities in your area.
  • Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Transport Canada security clearances.
  • The successful applicants will be eligible to meet requirements for the U.S International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
  • Applicants must be able to pass and maintain a Level II (Secret) security clearance with the Department of National Defence.
