Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Airworthiness Specialist is to assist the Senior Maintenance Manager (SMM) in managing the DND-approved Acceptable Maintenance Organization (AMO). The Airworthiness Specialist is responsible directly to the SMM and assists in the airworthiness management oversight for all programs and departments by overseeing compliance to Airworthiness Regulations specified in the Maintenance Process Manual (MPM) as well as implementing and advancing company policies and objectives as they pertain to the AMO. 

What You Will Do:

  • Assist the SMM in overseeing and monitoring the AMO for compliance to the MPM requirements.
  • Provide guidance to other Departments and Branches with regards to interpretation and compliance to the MPM.
  • Participate in investigations, internal audits and provide recommendations to the SMM for continuous improvements.
  • As a Person Responsible for Assignment of Authority (PRAA), provide authorizations for technicians progressing through their Technician Qualification Records (TQR), particularly monitoring progression of technicians towards obtaining Maintenance Release Authorization (MRA) level.
  • Provide guidance to all other PRAAs in overseeing the technical competence of technicians.
  • Monitor effectiveness of aircraft maintenance teams in terms of the allocation of qualified technicians and advise the Production Operations Support Team (POST) accordingly.
  • Participate in Final Area Close-Outs (FACOs) as required and provide trend reporting for Quality System Management Committee (QSMC) meetings.
  • Provide guidance to the Training Department as required, ensuring Airworthiness training material as well as Aircraft Type Courses are up-to-date and maintained.
  • Conduct random Electronic Work Order reviews.
  • Participate in Production Department meetings to remain current on aircraft status and milestones.
  • Fulfill the duties of the SMM in his/her absence.
  • Other duties as assigned by the SMM.

What You Will Bring:

  • Hold an Engineering degree from a recognized university, or be a graduate of a recognized aerospace technology course or, in the opinion of the SMM, have a thorough knowledge gained by formal training and/or work experience of the applicable airworthiness rules and standards.
  • Demonstrate to the SMM a thorough knowledge of:

                 (1) The scope and depth of technical airworthiness authority assigned to the AMO.

                 (2) Airworthiness responsibilities of the AMO.

                 (3) MPM procedures and their inter-relationship between the MPM and the IMP Quality Program.

  • Have no less than 6 years of relevant and progressively more responsible aerospace maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in the supervision of aeronautical product maintenance.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies, continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
