Position Overview:

IMP Aerospace & Defence provides comprehensive, turn-key in-service support to Canada’s fleet of Cormorant Search and Rescue helicopters and program management support to Canada’s Cormorant Mid Life Upgrade. Canadian Search & Rescue Helicopter operates across Canada at three Main Operating Bases and is headquartered at the Cormorant Support Centre in Halifax, NS. The Director of Business Operations reports to the Vice President Canadian Search & Rescue Helicopter in Halifax, NS.

What You Will Do:

• Lead employees.
• Maintain and improve an analysis framework for operating unit strategic objectives and performance.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement that delivers operational excellence and enhances productivity.
• Help department managers set goals, manage employees, and improve efficiency.
• Serve as the primary customer point of contact, at the program level, for in-service support.
• Chair program review meetings and coordinate the development of agenda and minutes.
• Provide input to the customer’s annual plans and financial forecast, including accurate financial modelling of supply chain performance.
• Prepare annual operating and capital budgets in coordination with Finance.
• Conduct budget reviews and exercise cost controls.
• Manage and develop proposals and contract deliverables in coordination with Contracts.
• Coordinate facility requirements and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and the effectiveness of Operational Health & Safety programs.
• Coordinate with Human Resources on hiring, personnel administration and labour relations, including collective bargaining.
• Manage employee evaluation methods and metrics.
• Coordinate operating unit succession and training planning.
• Review and implement company policies and procedures.

What You Will Bring:

• Leadership, communication, business analytics, and problem-solving skills.
• Action orientation and the ability to perform under stress.
• University engineering degree or business degree, or equivalent knowledge gained through education and training.
• Experience and training in business management with a sound understanding of financial budgeting and reporting. An MBA is preferable.
• Thorough knowledge of aerospace and aviation industry quality systems.
• Ability to use information technology and experience with the use of Enterprise Resource Management systems for business functions such as human resources, supply chain and finance. Facility with fleet planning, aircraft maintenance records, and engineering analysis applications is preferable.
• Experience working with geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams.
• A minimum of ten years progressive experience in the management of aircraft engineering, maintenance and operations is required.
• A minimum of five years experience managing projects in the aerospace industry and a sound understanding of project management best practices, including the ability to identify, assess and mitigate risk.
• Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
