Position Overview:
The maintenance mechanic will be expected to work under minimum supervision, and with a high degree of proficiency.
What You Will Do:
- Maintains and operates a variety of Company vehicles for maintenance activities and towing of aircraft.
- Maintains and operates mobile cranes and forklifts used for lifting aircraft components, materials, machinery, and equipment as required.
- Diagnoses and rectifies faults on all vehicles, industrial machinery and mechanical equipment utilized by the company.
- Carries out periodic inspections, testing and preventative maintenance of customer and company owned vehicles, industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Maintains accurate logbooks on vehicles and equipment as required.
- Assists members of the maintenance trades as required. (e.g.: moving machinery, plant equipment/furniture, waste chemicals, erecting scaffolding, etc.)
- Provides on-job-training to other personnel in the maintenance mechanic trade.
- Attends upgrading training for trade or personal development.
- Removes all debris accumulated by task(s) performed and maintains a clean, safe work area.
- Will be familiar with and comply with all safety regulations.
- Performs all other related duties.
What You Will Bring:
- As a minimum qualification the maintenance mechanic will have proven mechanical experience with industrial machinery and industrial vehicles
- A Provincial Journeyman Mechanic License is considered an asset
- Must be familiar with the use of welders, acetylene equipment, vehicle maintenance equipment, diagnostic testing equipment, lifting and towing equipment, vehicle, slings and personal protective equipment.
- If required by the company, the maintenance mechanic must be willing to attend and successfully complete a “Class B” Boom Truck Operators License at a facility recognized by the Nova Scotia Department of Labour.
- To reach the top level of the Maintenance Mechanic classification, the employee must successfully complete one (1) year work experience in this classification and have completed all OJT performance objectives.
Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
