Position Overview:

The Fleet Support/ Transition Engineer is responsible to the CH149 Fleet Support Supervisor for engineering activities supporting transition to a post-Mid-Life Upgrade CH149 Cormorant fleet as well as evaluating and implementing technical initiatives in support of the Cormorant fleet within the CH149 Engineering Acceptable Technical Organization (ATO).

What You Will Do:

 

  • Support development and review of inspection packages for aircraft parts and components using guidance material from aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Support comparison, review and evaluation of aircraft maintenance programs and aircraft technical documentation. 
  • Identify options and conduct options analysis to address issues raised by forums including:
  • Configuration differences between different aircraft fleets; and
  • Technical or product improvement initiatives.
  • Implement and monitor corrective action on Service Difficulty Reporting, Special Inspections, Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives.
  • Monitor Flight Safety Occurrences and track through ATO processes.
  • Support the CH149 Aircraft Flight Manual Working Group if/where required.
  • Provide analysis and business cases in support of modifications and ATO initiatives.
  • Coordinate the delivery of technical advice to Main Operating Bases (MOB) on modifications.
  • Track design changes on CH149 aircraft from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Product Improvement Leaflets, Change Collectors, and Service Bulletins through to fleet compliance tracking and closure. 
  • Conduct effective communications and act as liaison on technical matters with representatives from MOBs, Department of National Defense, aircraft and component OEMs, other Design Support Network elements, and Design Authorities.
  • Deployment of initiatives for general process improvements and increase efficiencies for the maintenance program (e.g. standard repairs, work flow improvements, standard process improvements). 
  • Conduct preparation and review of repair design and analysis and other modifications where required.
  • Prepare engineering reports, technical memoranda and technical directions.
  • Provide support to the configuration management and data management activities of the department.    
  • Perform airworthiness functions as a recognized Design Engineer or Design Technologist when authorized.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
     

What You Will Bring:

  • B.Eng. or B.Sc. (Eng.), or CET (Diploma in Engineering Technology), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer, or CET, is desirable.
  • Two (2) or more years of engineering experience is desirable. 
  • Knowledge of rotary wing aircraft structures and mechanical systems is an asset.
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations and standards, and military aircraft modification processes is an asset.
  • Experience in an aircraft engineering environment is an asset.
  • Possess clear and effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with people at all levels, both within the organization and those in outside agencies.
  • Must possess good self-discipline with an ability to work independently when required.
  • Must possess an ability to logically assimilate information and identify related causal factors, as well as to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
