Position Overview:

Reporting to the CSH Lifecycle Supervisor and the CSH Fleet Manager, the CSH Mechanical Systems Life Cycle Material Specialist (LCMS) is responsible for supporting CH149 equipment. This includes the identification of performance objectives, monitoring of maintenance materiel requirements and recommending improvements as necessary to optimize life cycle costs. 

What You Will Do:

  • Provide Life Cycle Materiel Management process recommendations to increase CH149 Cormorant Fleet Operational readiness and sustainability.
  • Liaise with the CH149 Materiel Department to coordinate the availability of repairable parts.
  • Monitor repairable parts submitted into Repair and Overhaul (R&O) process.
  • Facilitate the transfer of repairable parts to and from CH149 Main Operating Bases (MOBs).
  • Coordinate rob activity between all MOBs, including HIA; this includes the strict monitoring of robs, both, to and from the MOBs and HIA.
  • Coordinate modification of parts through liaison with CSH Engineering and Leonardo Helicopters to ensure that clear information and direction, sufficient modification components/kits and tooling are delivered to MOBs.
  • Input, identify and prescribe reporting information on Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) rates and other requisite technical material data.
  • Monitor component trends and make recommendations on Asset and Spares Inventory positioning for maintenance and inspection cycles.
  • Prepare reports for the Cormorant Support Center, Weapons System Manager, and Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) on materiel, upgrades, modification, and component trends.
  • Provide input to the development and amendment of procedures and work instructions.
  • Investigate potential alternate R&O sources, as permitted by contract, to enhance component turnaround time (TAT) and cost savings.
  • Assess and evaluate additions to the CH149 AVL (Approved Vendors List) in order to advise the Senior Maintenance Manager (SMM) or Deputy SMM.
  • Raise Requests for Engineering Support (RES s) as required.
  • Review and process Material Disposal Requests (MDR s).
  • Action Repair Requisitions.
  • Provide a technical review and grant authorization for Purchase Order amendments of R&O components.
  • Other duties as assigned by the CSH Fleet Manager.

What You Will Bring:

  • Diploma in Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of aircraft technical education and experience.
  • Minimum two years  experience in an aircraft engineering or maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge of rotary wing aircraft systems and components is desirable.
  • Capable of providing clear and detailed written and verbal communication.  
  • Ability to manage projects and tasks.
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations, standards and military modification processes desirable.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of programs including but not limited to MS Word and Excel.
  • CH149 Cormorant experience will be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies.
