Position Overview:

Reporting to the VP Programs, the Program Director will provide leadership, management oversight, support and guidance for Program and Project Managers for all major programs within the organization.

What You Will Do:

  • Use and promote industry standard program management processes and procedures. 
  • Support the IMP Programs Department in the development of Program and Project plans.
  • Coordinate and direct activities across the Programs Department.
  • Effectively manage Programs Department personnel.
  • On an as needed basis, assume the responsibilities of the VP Programs, as assigned. 
  • Assist or lead new business bids/proposals development.
  • Working with Executive staff to provide inputs to the development of the annual Strategic Plan.
  • Monitor program and project costs/schedule performance and take corrective action as required.
  • Achieve on-time delivery for all assigned programs ensuring additional scope is accounted for and approved.
  • Monitor and support preparation of Project Management Plans for assigned Programs throughout the organization.
  • Regularly and as required, brief IMP Senior Management on Program cost and schedule performance.
  • Chair internal and external Progress Review Meetings, interfacing with customers and/or Government executive level personnel. 
  • Review and amend Standard Plant Procedures (SPP’s) affecting areas of responsibility.
  • Produce daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports as required. 
  • Plan longer term resource requirements against present and future workload.  
  • Build working relationships with other departments to meet Programs and Contracts requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring:

  • Post secondary education – Engineering or Business degree would be an asset.
  • Experience in the Aerospace Industry would be an asset. 
  • Advanced program management experience in an earned value management (EVM) environment is essential – must have previous experience managing major Programs. 
  • 10+ years in a Program Management position or higher would be an asset.
  • Program Management course (PMI) would be considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written. 
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork ability.
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Office Suite.
  • This position requires a motivated self-starter who is results driven, with exceptional multitasking skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills as applied to complex issues. 
  • Extensive experience in management positions, managing or interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams is desirable. 
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies.  Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
