Position Overview:

  • To plan, organize, control and lead the technical activities and resources of the RW Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering Section of the Aircraft Engineering department, to ensure aircraft airworthiness and compliance with all customer and company requirements.
  • The Rotary Wing Engineering Supervisor will report to the IMP Group Ltd. – Aerospace and Defence location near the Halifax International Airport.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide supervision, technical guidance and leadership to assigned RW Aeronautical / Mechanical Engineering staff. 
  • Act as the focal point for the provision of Engineering support to Rotary Wing Production programs, including coordination of resource requirements with ASE and Specialty Engineering sections.
  • Liaise with production management and staff, both directly and through Liaison Engineers, to ensure coordination of engineering activities with aircraft schedules.
  • Provide project management surveillance to ensure that non-aircraft engineering activities (eg: design development project tasks) are completed on time and within budget.            
  • Provide input for short and long term workload and manpower planning of the Aircraft Engineering Department.
  • Provide Engineering assistance and advice to other Company Departments as required.
  • Provide Human Resources administration assistance for the department in the areas of staffing requirements, selection, training and performance evaluation.
  • Liaise with the Customers, IMP Senior Management and the various Company departments as required to ensure airworthiness, cost effectiveness and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Represent the Company and/or the Customer at technical symposia and/or meetings with aircraft OEM or other outside agencies as required.
  • Investigate and identify areas of revenue potential that might be exploited using the skills and resources of the Department.
  • Review and, if necessary, approve Engineering design and documentation, Engineering input to Statements of Work, Proposals, Project Cost Estimates.

What You Will Bring:

  • B. Eng. or B. Sc. (Eng) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Professional Engineer status or eligibility for membership in ENS. 
  • 6+ years experience in an Engineering environment primarily dealing with Aircraft structures and Mechanical systems. 
  • Very good knowledge of Aircraft structures and Mechanical systems and their relevant analytical method and tools is required.  
  • Familiarization with customer procedures is desirable.  
  • Good communicative abilities are required.  
  • Good leadership, guidance and delegation skills are required. 
  • Demonstrated good project management skills. 
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies.  Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation. 
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 8S activities in your area. 
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP),  Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
