Position Overview:

The Materiel Database Administrator is responsible for performing critical data management functions to ensure the accuracy/reliability and integrity of the JD Edwards material database. 

What You Will Do:

  • Ensure the input of accurate data into the JDE computer system as per IAW, SPPs, ADs, QSPs and Work Instructions.
  • Support efforts, including but not limited to performing audits and other forms of analysis of the inventory database.
  • Correct &/or update the database to maintain accurate and consistent records.
  • Categorize parts for inventory monitoring purposes.
  • Modify and maintain Item Masters and Item Branch shelf life, Controlled Goods, and MSDS requirements/data.
  • Work effectively and efficiently with Planners, Buyers, Materiel Coordinators, Engineers to build and maintain Item Master, Item Branches, and Cross References iaw SPPs, ADs, QSPs, Work Instructions and approved technical documents.
  • Ensure new Item Branches are built in the correct Branch Plant based on contractual and schedule requirements.
  • Complete inventory transactions, including but not limited to purchase order reversal transactions, reversing issues, transferring inventory.
  • Generate and action reports, including but not limited to the Referral Report, Shortage Reports, and Materiel Reports.
  • Minimize materiel shortages to ensure production schedule is not negatively impacted.
  • Update Work Order Line Types upon building new Item Branches for work order requirements.
  • Take a proactive approach to identify and resolve inventory control issues before they occur.
  • Read, understand, comply with, and suggest improvements for all inventory-related company procedures and directives.
  • Recommend and implement ways to reduce inventory holdings.
  • Actively participate to identify areas of opportunity, as well as barriers for effective performance.
  • Report discrepancies in information to mitigate or minimize disruptions in the supply chain and ensure airworthiness is maintained. 
  • Participate in departmental and interdepartmental meetings as required.
  • Remain current on common user application software in support of aircraft supply.
  • Provide oral and written reports and correspondence as required, internal and external. 
  • Carry out special assignments as required.

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum High School completion with suitable work experience. However, preference will be given to those candidates who possess a college diploma or undergraduate degree.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Review and become familiar with Annex C of the Maintenance Process Manual.
  • The ideal candidate will have 3   5 years experience in the aerospace supply/logistics or Production Planning field.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong skills in MS Office Suite of applications particularly Excel & Access
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. JD Edwards, SAP, PeopleSoft etc). 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to meet objectives working with colleagues.
  • Familiarity with the Aerospace industry inventory/logistics environment and its major challenges is an asset.
  • Familiarity with AS 9100 quality environments is an asset.
  • Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and Transport Canada security clearances.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
