Job Description

The Airworthiness Engineer reports directly to the Director Airworthiness, Quality & Safety. Primary work is in support of the Department of National Defence (DND) CC130H Primary Air Vehicle (PAV) Accredited Technical Organization (ATO) and Transport Canada Design Approval Organization (DAO) 90-V-01.

Working in conjunction with other Engineering specialty groups, the Airworthiness Engineer is responsible to research and prepare regulatory compliance engineering documentation to support both Civil and Military contractual deliverables, conduct airworthiness monitoring, surveillance duties and detailed risk assessments, flight test readiness audits, support special purpose flight permits and provide support functions to the Airworthiness Control Committee (ACC). Additional duties may include direct support to design, analysis and test teams.

Be familiar with and ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with Cascade Aerospace’s Human Resources safety and security policies and procedures.
 

Analyze/validate the regulatory aspects and deliverables associated to aircraft repair designs, modification designs and other design changes throughout the product life cycle:

  • Research and recommend scope and depth of applicable standards of airworthiness
  • Participate in the development and validation of engineering designs and substantiating data for compliance to the standards of airworthiness
  • Liaise with the airworthiness authority in order to develop certification requirements and data necessary to demonstrate compliance
  • Effectively communicate with multiple program stakeholders, engineering specialty groups, flight test teams to support mission-ready aircraft and the safety of aircrew and passengers

 

Perform other duties as required.

Core Skills

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written

  • Demonstrated skills in engineering design and analysis in their engineering discipline

  • Ability to work effectively with design teams and project management personnel

  • Organizational management in advanced technology

Education

  • B.Sc. in Aerospace / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering

Experience

  • 0 - 4 years’ experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering environment
  • Ideal candidate will have worked in aircraft design, testing and certification; or equivalent engineering experience developing regulatory compliance documentation in a government-regulated industry (marine, transportation, flight safety, etc.)
  • Entry level candidates will need to show Capstone projects and documented evidence of performance requirements development and compliance
  • Expertise in the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR 521) or the DND Technical Airworthiness Manual considered an asset
  • Experience within the CAF considered an asset
