Job Description

 

The Project Engineer 1 ensures that a project meets the engineering requirements aspects of the program (regulatory or otherwise) by applying accepted engineering and project management principles.

Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian Government Security Clearances.

Major Responsibilities & Duties

Apply principles of project management in performing engineering activities.

  • Work effectively with all project stakeholders in order to define the project scope, cost and schedule estimates, and quality requirements
  • Develop a logical breakdown of projects to support effective estimates and project resources management and performance tracking
  • Log costs as defined
  • Monitor project performance against accepted estimates
  • Liaise with project personnel, vendors, customers, and other stakeholders in order to complete the project effectively

 

Provide engineering support to internal and external customers.

  • Respond appropriately to requests for engineering support by Cascade Aerospace or external customers.

 

Participate, as required, in the design of Cascade Aerospace’s repairs, modifications and project developments in accordance departmental procedures and standards.

  • Evaluate data presented and acquire additional data in order to support development required design solutions.
  • Ensure designs consider the requirements of the customer, certification authority, and other project constraints.
  • Apply accepted engineering principals in generating design solutions and support to meet customer and program needs.
  • Research and evaluate specifications, vendor products, and outside services to support engineering efforts.

 

Participate in the administrative activities of the engineering department.

 

Be familiar with and ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with Cascade Aerospace’s Human Resources safety and security policies and procedures.

 

Perform other duties as required.

Core Skills

 

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written
  • Strong ability to provide engineering design and analysis solutions
  • Strong competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and SolidWorks or similar type software
  • Knowledge of project management fundamentals
  • Knowledge of civil airworthiness engineering process (TCCA, FAA, and/or EASA)
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

Education

 

  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering Technology

Experience

 

  • 3-5 years' experience in engineering product design, analysis, and airworthiness certification related to aeronautical product developments and aircraft modification
  • Previous Project Engineering or Project Management of an Engineering discipline considered an asset
