Job Description

 

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for all aircraft activities on the floor and directly contributes to turning Cascade's vision into a reality. The Supervisor liaises with customers, crew members and other personnel to ensure that a high level of quality and safety is always achieved. The Supervisor provides supervision and technical guidance to crew members with a goal of achieving an engaged work environment. The Supervisor will have the opportunity to expand both their technical and soft skill set through training opportunities, exposure to various Cascade departments and collaborating with other subject matter experts on solutions. This position is for Dayshift.

This position requires immediate Controlled Goods clearance, therefore only Canadian Residents or Permanent Residents will be considered at this time.

 

Major Responsibilities & Duties

 

  • Strive to consistently act in a manner in which reflects Cascade Aerospace's culture and values.
  • Provide supervision, technical knowledge and guidance to Maintenance crews performing maintenance, modifications, aircraft overhaul and/or alterations to the customer's aircraft.
  • Handle Maintenance employee concerns, conduct performance appraisals, deal with disciplinary issues and provide coaching and mentoring for all Maintenance employees with tact and diplomacy.
  • Liaise with Customer Representatives regarding all aircraft check related issues.
  • Ensure all work performed at Cascade Aerospace exceed quality standards while meeting safety guidelines and productivity goals and objectives.
  • Provide assistance and input in the development of various company and employee programs. 
  • Ensure all work tasks are performed in accordance with Cascade Aerospace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with and ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with Cascade Aerospace's Human Resources, attendance, safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Core Skills

 

  • Excellent communication skills; fluent written and verbal English is mandatory
  • Intermediate computer skills: word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
  • Thorough skill and knowledge in performing manufacturing, maintenance, repair and modification of aircraft or systems and components
  • Ability to ensure that approved standards of Quality Control are maintained
  • Safe work practices and techniques
  • Exceptional knowledge and skill in supervisory techniques, including the ability to establish work standards, provide coaching and motivate staff
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with both internal and external customers with tact and diplomacy
  • Proven successful management of labour hours and work flow to enhance productivity
  • Demonstrated success in performance management
  • Proven past performance in taking initiative and providing leadership
  • Proven success coordinating several projects/assignments at one time
  • Good knowledge of DND, TC and FAA maintenance policy regulations

Education

 

  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer or equivalent
  • Certificate or training in supervision or management discipline considered an asset

Experience

 

  • 10+ years experience performing heavy maintenance on a variety of transport category aircraft
  • Holder of Transport Canada licence or Certification Authority within the scope of their trade for a minimum of 7 years
  • Experience as a Crew Leader or Supervisor
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered for this position based on demonstrated ability
