Position Summary

Our CFO is retiring after more than 30 years with the Company, and we are seeking a strategic financial leader to become our next Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.

 

Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the CFO is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for the overall financial stewardship, strategic planning, capital allocation, and risk management of IMP Group and its diverse portfolio of businesses.

 

The CFO will serve as a trusted advisor to the President & CEO, Board of Directors, shareholders, and business leaders across the organization. This executive will provide financial leadership that supports sustainable growth, drives operational excellence, and ensures the organization maintains the financial strength and flexibility required to execute its long-term strategy.

 

The successful candidate will possess the experience and business acumen to navigate a complex, multi-company environment while balancing strategic vision with disciplined execution.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accountability

  • Lead all aspects of corporate finance, accounting, treasury, tax, financial planning and analysis, reporting, and internal controls.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting across the organization.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, performance measurement, and financial reporting processes.
  • Maintain strong financial governance and compliance frameworks across all operating companies.
  • Monitor business performance and recommend actions to improve profitability, cash flow, and return on invested capital.
  • Utilize data, analytics, and key performance indicators to drive decision-making.
  • Challenge assumptions constructively and provides clear, fact-based recommendations.
  • Maintain focus on profitability, cash flow, operational efficiency, and return on investment.

Financial Governance and Risk Management

  • Provide executive oversight for company risk management procedures and reporting.
  • Ensure robust financial controls, compliance programs, and governance practices are maintained throughout the organization.
  • Partner with legal, audit, and operational leaders to mitigate financial, operational, cybersecurity, regulatory, and reputational risks.
  • Work closely with IMP’s external audit firm to ensure the integrity, accuracy and transparency of the company’s financial statements.
  • Support Board and Audit Committee governance responsibilities through effective reporting and communication.
  • Create and maintain a culture where risk is appropriately identified, assessed, and managed.
  • Ensure compliance, transparency, and accountability while enabling business growth.

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute IMP Group's strategic and financial plans.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support major business decisions, investments, acquisitions, divestitures, and growth initiatives.
  • Think beyond individual business units to align the overall company and shareholder perspective.
  • Evaluate market opportunities, economic trends, and business performance to identify strategic risks and opportunities.
  • Support business unit leaders in achieving financial and operational objectives while maintaining accountability and autonomy within the decentralized operating model.
  • Develop and execute financial strategies across multiple industries and business models.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance organization capable of supporting a complex and diversified business portfolio.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and operational excellence.
  • Mentor finance leaders across the company and strengthen succession planning and talent development.
  • Champion IMP Group's values and promote a culture of integrity, respect, engagement, and inclusion.
  • Create an environment that empowers operational finance leaders while maintaining strong accountability for results.

Capital Allocation and Investment Management

  • Develop and execute capital allocation strategies aligned with shareholder objectives and long-term value creation.
  • Lead financial evaluation and due diligence activities related to acquisitions, investments, partnerships, and strategic transactions.
  • Optimize capital structures across the portfolio and oversee relationships with lenders, financial institutions, and external advisors.
  • Understand the operational drivers of business performance and translate financial insights into actionable business decisions.
  • Evaluate opportunities through both a financial and strategic lens.
  • Possess a strong understanding of capital-intensive businesses, regulated industries, and growth-oriented enterprises.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in evaluating risk, investment opportunities, acquisitions, and resource allocation.

Executive Influence, Board and Stakeholder Relations

  • Serve as a principal financial advisor to the President & CEO, Board of Directors, and shareholders.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, financial analyses, and recommendations to Board committees and executive stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external auditors, financial institutions, investors, regulatory bodies, and strategic partners.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the President & CEO, Board of Directors, shareholders, and executive leadership team.
  • Communicate complex financial and strategic matters with clarity and confidence.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in a non authoritative manner while maintaining the ability to influence decisions among diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Develop strong relationships across a decentralized portfolio structure where influence often outweighs authority.
  • Build trust quickly and effectively with business unit leaders, external partners, lenders, and advisors.
  • Foster collaboration while respecting the autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit of individual businesses.
  • Demonstrate exceptional listening, consultation, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • MBA or other advanced business education is considered an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including significant executive-level responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success serving as CFO, SVP Finance, or equivalent senior finance executive within a complex organization.
  • Experience within a diversified, multi-entity, private company is strongly preferred.
  • Proven expertise in capital allocation, mergers and acquisitions, treasury management, financial strategy, and enterprise risk management.
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors and Audit Committees.

Within the first 12–24 months, the successful CFO will be expected to:
