The Opportunity:

Ducimus is searching for a Vice President, Commercial Lending to join our team. What You Will Do:

  • Reporting to the Executive Vice President, you will aid in establishing the company's short and long-term goals and strategies while ensuring the company operates in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Vice President to oversee underwriting due diligence, risk analysis, and loan portfolio metrics (i.e., loan loss performance).
  • Review and approve Letters of Intent for Mortgage Brokers and Borrowers as well as credit applications prepared by Associates, prior to Executive Vice President approval.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive enterprise-wide risk management framework (ERM) covering credit, investment, market, operational, brand, and compliance risk. Develop risk measures and provide quantitative analytical support to the Executive Vice President and Executive Credit Committee.
  • Lead the facilitation, implementation and monitoring of effective risk management practices, and ensure operating policies and procedures are complied with throughout the organization.
  • Manage the underwriting team and Principal Broker, ensuring proper management of both credit and non-credit risks as per Ducimus Capital’s policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and report on adherence to and consistency of Board-approved risk appetite framework, risk tolerance, and risk profile-including both credit and non-credit enterprise risk metrics.
  • Manage Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) controls across relevant business areas, ensuring consistent compliance.
  • Accountable for the completeness of all files, perfection of all required security, including subsequent renewals; ensuring borrowers’ reporting requirements are met (i.e., annual and interim financial statements and compliance certificates); and for the outcome of the external auditor’s year-end findings while sampling files.
  • Accountable for the training, development, succession planning and management of the underwriting team.
  • Promote informed risk-taking in private lending through training and coaching.
  • Manage a growing team of Associates and collaborate with our team of loan administration support personnel.
  • Foster positive relationships with the mortgage broker network in Ontario and Nova, educating them on Ducimus’ deal parameters and expectations (data collection, timeliness, and accuracy.)
  • Be the primary point of contact for borrowers and brokers and be responsible for credit structuring of mortgage proposals.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent. Professional designation in finance, risk management or a related field (MBA, CFA, or CPA designation preferred).
  • Willing to obtain Mortgage Broker license
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial lending
  • Experience in implementing and managing Enterprise Risk Management strategy and governance, risk, and compliance activities.
  • Strong people management skills and proven leadership abilities to motivate and support your team.
