Summary

The Line Maintenance Coordinator / Maintenance Controller (AME-MC) is a hybrid operational and technical role combining hands-on line maintenance and certification authority with delegated maintenance control responsibilities.

 

The role ensures continued airworthiness, regulatory compliance, and operational dispatch reliability by executing and certifying maintenance, coordinating internal and external maintenance activities, and exercising maintenance control authority in accordance with the approved Maintenance Control System.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled line maintenance in accordance with OEM data, CARs, and company manuals..
  • Support aircraft turnarounds, overnight maintenance, short-notice operational requests, and AOG events.
  • Certify maintenance tasks and sign maintenance releases for work performed or supervised under ACA authority.
  • Ensure all maintenance actions are properly documented, traceable, and compliant with technical records requirements.
  • Exercise authority to ground aircraft when safety or airworthiness is in question.
  • Apply and manage MEL/CDL deferrals, including M-procedures, placarding, operational limitations, and rectification tracking.
  • Act as the primary maintenance control point of contact for Flight Crew, Dispatch/OCC, and Maintenance Operations.
  • Provide real-time technical input supporting dispatch, scheduling, and operational decision-making.
  • Evaluate and authorize defects against MEL/CDL and approved procedures within delegated authority.
  • Coordinate AOG events, both in-house and off-site, including engagement of approved external AMOs.

Requirements

  • Valid Transport Canada AME license (M2)
  • 7–10+ years aviation maintenance experience
  • Prior exposure to Commercial Air Operator maintenance control or fleet coordination
  • Strong experience in line maintenance, defect assessment, MEL/CDL application, and AOG decision-making
  • Solid knowledge of CARs, MCM, MPM, and OEM technical data
  • Experience with maintenance tracking systems (CAMP, Traxxall, AMOS or equivalent)
