Summary
The Head of Heavy Maintenance is responsible for the overall management and administration of heavy maintenance, paint activities, stores, and aviation technical services.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the Execaire Aviation Safety Management System and Procedures
- Manage all maintenance inspections, installations, refurbishments, and paint of all aircraft
- Oversee the stores/inventory control activities
- Oversee all Aviation Technical Services activities including NDT, IFE/C, Water Sampling, and Airline Line Maintenance Support
- Ensure that Manager(s) Production and Supervisor(s) - Paint are overseeing and instruct the personnel regarding the performance of work and align to the company vision, mission, and code of conduct in both the Montreal and Toronto heavy maintenance facilities
- Ensure maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with company policies described in MPM
- Ensure that the Manager(s) and Supervisor(s) properly review and approve employee timecards
- Ensure proper manpower coverage is in place to support all heavy maintenance activities and deliverables
- Oversee budget reviews and approvals with Managers
- Follow up on performance (actual to estimate) and report on discrepancies
Responsibilities
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure that proper follow up is implemented on open work orders to review daily activities and ensure work is conducted in a timely manner and is justifiable and accountable
- Promote safety awareness and regulate employees accordingly
- Ensure for availability of equipment to accomplish AMO functions
- Assure that all AMO equipment is in a serviceable condition
- Complete training requirements as outlined in the Training Program
- Actively participate in the safe operations of the company by providing accurate occurrence reports
- Conduct regular meetings with technical personnel
- Develop and manage schedule and resource loading
- Work in close coordination with Senior Management to determine the factors that impact, or may impact the schedule completion of the project
- Primary point of contact for customers (review their special needs)
- Approve request for AWR’s and approve RFP’s
- Conduct employee reviews
- Provide quote support to sales department
- Manage project budget and perform periodic cost and productivity analysis
- Participate in customer post-delivery meetings
- Ensure main facility and support shops are kept in an orderly condition and that all tools and equipment are sufficient to accomplish the maintenance tasks for the type of aircraft being worked on
- Support the Manager of Quality Assurance in performance of audits and participate in implementing corrective actions when assigned
- Ensure maintenance employee training is kept up to date to maintain qualified personnel
- Responsible to communicate to the PRM when minimum tooling requirements are not met
- Ensure all test equipment and precision tooling are maintained
- Ensure control of shelf-life materials throughout the workplace area
Requirements
- College or University degree
- 10 years aviation experience with a minimum of 3 years within the heavy maintenance environment
- Prior experience with aircraft paint shop activities and deliveries an asset
- 5 years in a similar position preferred
- Prior experience with process improvement projects an asset
- MS Office Suite proficiency (Power Point, Excel, Project, and Word)
- Bilingual in English and French
- Strong communicator
- Works well with data
- Avid learner with office tech software
