Jump on Ship! The Opportunity:

At Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre, we have an immediate opening for a Maintenance Manager! If you are hands-on leader with a passion for keeping things running smoothly, solving problems with a smile, and creating a safe and welcoming environment for guests and staff alike, we want you!

What You Will Do:

  • Oversees scheduling and operations of the Maintenance Department to ensure effective work control and productivity are maintained. Manages staffing, performance, and use of contractors as needed.
  • Maintains preventative maintenance schedules and general repairs for all mechanical/electrical systems such as the pool, elevators, HVAC, fridges, boilers, cooling towers and more, including that of other departments such as laundry and kitchen.
  • Incorporates these schedules into the development of a comprehensive preventative maintenance program; directs and supervises the work of staff and outside contractors for continued full and effective implementation.
  • Directs and supervises the preventative maintenance program together with other day-to-day works of general maintenance and repair to ensure that the building, its contents and its surroundings are always in optimal condition.
  • Ensures safe and efficient operation of all equipment, monitors servicing impact, and maintains detailed maintenance records. Coordinates and supervise contractor and in-house employee work to meet health and safety standards.
  • Manages inventory and spare parts, maintaining approved stock levels and efficient inventory control. Assesses long-term maintenance needs of the hotel and property, including upgrades and replacement work.
  • Communicates effectively across departments, demonstrating strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure. Conducts regular inspections and liaises with local authorities to ensure compliance.
  • Maintains contact with local authorities such as Fire Department, Power, Building and Health Inspectors, etc., to ensure that all requirements are being complied with and that assistance or advice will be readily available whenever required.
  • Participates in departmental budgeting and planning, with awareness of hotel financial goals and operational efficiency.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a hotel setting as Maintenance Manager/Supervisor.
  • Recognized schooling and/or Journeyman’s ticket.
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC plumbing, fire/life/safety systems, pool operations, carpentry, masonry, all wall covering systems, flooring (including carpet, tile, wood and finishes).
  • Excellent knowledge of building construction and related safety codes and current fire regulations.
  • Strong, proven leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications and Microsoft Office Applications.
