Jump on Ship! The Opportunity:

At Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre, we have an immediate opening for a Marketing & Events Coordinator! If you are a creative, organized, and detail-oriented professional with a passion for planning events and driving marketing initiatives, we want you!

What You Will Do:

  • Provide ongoing marketing support to the Director of Sales & Marketing, working collaboratively to design and execute marketing strategies and initiatives, including tv and radio advertising campaigns.
  • Plan, organize, and execute marketing events to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Resort.
  • Represent the Resort at meetings with committees and associations to promote events and services.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for weddings and marketing events.
  • Coordinate day meeting bookings through the convener, as required.
  • Support the Catering Manager with large-scale events by organizing logistics, preparing Banquet Event Orders, and distributing relevant materials.
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date filing system for the catering department.
  • Assist with servicing group bookings and functions as needed.
  • Conduct property site tours and menu tastings with prospective clients.
  • Contribute to the development and distribution of sales promotions, mailings, and marketing materials.
  • Participate in sales and Food & Beverage meetings as requested.
  • Follow up with past clients to maintain relationships and encourage repeat business.
  • Ensure compliance with all hotel policies and procedures and act as Manager on Duty when required.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Previous experience in event planning or administrative support is required.
  • Experience in Food and Beverage service within a hotel or event setting is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Tourism, Hospitality, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent hotel industry experience, is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated passion for guest service with a keen eye for detail and quality.
  • Positive and professional demeanor with a proven track record of reliability and teamwork.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods during events and site tours.
